The playoffs are here and we’re ready to cheer on the Texans this Saturday January 9th! We’re hoping for a win and want to cheer on our team surrounded by other excited fans. We’re bringing you our favorite bars to enjoy with family or friends. These are the Best Sports Bars to watch football around Houston and catch the playoffs! Plus we’ve got a few picks around our communities in Katy!
Lucky’s Pub
Where: 801 St Emanuel St, Houston, TX 77003
Why: Lucky’s Pub is one of our favorite places to watch sports around Houston. It is your quintessential sports bars, with cheap beer, burgers and huge HDTV screens. How can you go wrong? Check it our game day. One of our favorite snacks during game day is the Spicy Fried Pickles. If you’re not going with a burger, order the Lucky Club (A Texas sized triple-decker loaded with mesquite smoked turkey, hickory bacon, pepper jack, ham, Swiss, lettuce and tomato).
Revelry on Richmond
Where: 1613 Richmond Ave Houston, TX 77006
Why: Head to Montrose for craft brews, bites and the game this weekend. Revelry on Richmond has a large patio if you want to sit outside. Share the HTown Fries with your friends while you cheer on the Texans. Enjoy beers on tap all day and eat The Super Mario Burger when you’re looking to fill up.
Pub Fiction
Where: 2303 Smith St #100, Houston, TX 77006
Why: The extensive menu, relaxed environment and large patio are all reasons that we love catching sports at Pub Fiction. If you’re looking for an experience outside of the usual sports bar, definitely check out Pub Fiction. You’ve got to share the Ultimate Nachos (Refried Beans, Three Cheeses, Grilled Salsa, Pub Pickled Jalapenos. You can add grilled chicken or skirt steak). The Kung “Pow” Chicken Salad (Glazed Chicken Breast, Asian Vegetables, Won Ton, Shaved Jalapeno and Lime) is a fan favorite. The Baja Fish Tacos (Corn Flake Crusted, Cilantro Slaw, Grilled Salsa, Guacamole and Lime) are another popular item here.
Beer Market Co.
Where: The Heights, Washington Corridor 920 Studemont St Houston, TX 77007
Why: If you’re living in The Heights area, watch the game at Beer Market Co. It is a quirky little spot with hundreds of beers, yummy bar bites and a relaxed atmosphere. Since you’re going for sports you need to get the Beer Market Wings and the Fried Mac’ N Cheese Bites (creamy mac ‘n cheese deep fried to golden perfection, served with spicy tomato sauce). The Patty Melt (our signature 1/2 lb. patty, grilled onions, mushrooms, melted Swiss cheese on Texas toast) is another favorite menu item.
The Hay Merchant
Where: 1100 Westheimer Rd Houston, TX 77006
Why: Get your football on while enjoying delicious craft beers and good old comfort food. The Hay Merchant is a Houston favorite and a great place to watch the playoffs with friends or family. We can’t get enough of the Pozole Fries (Fries topped with braised pork pozole sauce and cheese curds served with cabbage, radishes, pickled jalapenos, onions, and pickled hominy). The Chili Dog (44 Farms jalapeno cheddar dog topped with cheese, chili and jalapeno served with chips) is also crazy good.
The Public House
Where: 22758 Westheimer Pkwy #270, Katy, TX 77450
Why: The Public House is a traditional tavern great for football watching! They have casual pub eats, beer, a full bar and games to play with your friends. While they are a Irish pub, they do show the NFL games. We love the Beer Braised Pork Sandwich (pecan smoked pork, sourdough roll, onion, pickle, sriracha aioli). The Pulled Pork Nachos (beer braised pork, beer cheese, salsa, sour cream, tomato, jalapeno) are another favorite.
Texas Mesquite Grill
Where: 20095 Katy Fwy Katy, TX 77450
Why: This large sports bar and grill has great Texas inspired meals, a large patio and TVs for a great football experience. Texas Mesquite Grill is a popular spot in Katy and locals love it. Plus on weekends they have a pretty delicious brunch! When we go for sports, we usually order a cold beer, and snack on The 50/50 (half fried pickles, half fried jalapeno strips). They’ve also got some funkier appetizers like Quail Bites. You can’t go wrong with any of their grilled specialties, like the mesquite grilled fajitas.
