Kid’s 1st Saturday

Meet up at The Breakfast Klub for Kids 1st Saturday, where kids can let their imaginations run wild. At each family-friendly event kids can get their faces painted, families can enjoy music and everyone can play games, too. Join in on the fun each Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Free Thursday at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston

Each Thursday the Museum of Fine Arts opens up its doors for free to Houston residents and visitors alike. Not just for big kids, the museum offers family-friendly programs and experiences tailored to kids under the age of 3, which includes “Our Youngest Artists” where little ones are encouraged to touch and play as well as “Family Storybook Circle” for kids ages 3 to 5. NFL Experience

Calling all football fans! The Super Bowl is back! There’s no shortage of things to do in the days leading up to the big showdown. Whatever team you’re a fan of, your entire family is sure to have a great time Downtown at the NFL Experience. There will be plenty of kid-friendly activities, including youth football clinics, an interactive theme park and autograph sessions, where kiddos and fans can get their gear signed by their favorite players. Sesame Street Live

When: NRG Arena, 8400 Kirby Drive
Join the Sesame Street gang for Elmo Makes Music Live in Houston starting on February 9 and running through February 12 at NRG Arena. Families are encouraged to dance, sing along and clap during the show. The live performance both educates and entertains, giving parents great talking points, such as “What was your favorite character?” or “Did you learn anything new?” Visit the event’s website for pricing details and information about meet and greets with the characters from the show.

Ice Skating at Discovery Green

Bundle up and take the entire family to the largest outdoor skating rink in the Southwest. Little ones are welcome, as there is a special spot, called the Ice Box, where skaters under the age of four can try their hand at skating in a safe environment. Check the Discovery Green website for discounts and current pricing, including admission to the rink and skate rentals.

Mardi Gras Menagerie!

With Mardi Gras in full swing, there’s no better way to celebrate with the family than at the Mardi Gras Menagerie! Taking place at the Houston Symphony, this event is a “jazzy” and fun-filled celebration of Mardi Gras. Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite animal and can expect to hear familiar tunes from the hit family movie “Happy Feet.” Tickets range from $22 to $37 and can be purchased online.
