Make this summer unforgettable with these fun activities.
1. Make a splash at Pirates Bay Waterpark
Where: 5300 E Rd
Cool off this summer with a trip to Pirates Bay Waterpark. The park features attractions for swimmers of all abilities. Kids can play with the water guns, spray nozzles and explore the tot park. There is also a 671-foot lazy river and two slide towers. Admission starts at $15.
2. Discover Burnet, Crystal and Scott Bays
Where: 6213 Bayway Dr
Located just 20-miles east of Houston, Baytown Nature Center gives visitors the chance to explore 450-acres of wildlife, scenic views and nature. There are birding trails, fishing piers, bike paths, a butterfly garden, a playground for kids and many more facilities to enjoy. The nature center is located nearby Burnet, Crystal and Scott Bays, too.
3. See a real locomotive
Where: Roseland Dr
Check out a historical landmark in Baytown this summer with a stop at the Southern Pacific Locomotive #895, which is on display on Roseland Drive. This style of train was first built in 1913 in New York and weighs 196,000-pounds. It’s a fun sight to see for kids and Texas history buffs.
4. Go geocaching with friends

5. Hit the Bay Breeze wine trail
Where: 12739 FM 2354
This wine trail tour begins at Yepez Vineyards and winds its way to Clipper House, Clear Creek Winery and concludes with a final stop at D’Vine Wine of Galveston. The tour is free but guests will have to pay for the tastings at each stop.
6. Take a ride aboard the Lynchburg Ferry
Where: 1001 S Lynchburg
Operating seven days a week, the Lynchburg Ferry is the oldest, continuously operating ferry in Texas. The ferry travels from the Houston Ship Channel and connects North and South Independence Parkway as well as the San Jacinto Battleground Monument free of charge.
7. Catch a wave
Where: 12450 Eagle Pointe
Remember to apply plenty of waterproof sunscreen before dipping a toe into Eagle Pointe’s Wave Pool. The people welcomes swimmers of all ages, from tots to seniors. There are plenty of shaded areas, a kids play zone, a snack bar, life jacket rentals, free tubs for use and other amenities. Adult admission is $8.
8. Get a cut at Trophy Barbershop
Where: 103 E Texas Ave
In April of 1948, hunter and barber, Jimmie Carpenter opened up the doors to Baytown’s two-chair Trophy Barbershop. Dubbed “The World’s Most Unusual” the barber shop features game trophies of all sizes. As his business grew, so did the trophy collection, which includes an eagle, a baboon, a water buffalo, a lion and hundreds of deer antlers mounted to the ceiling. Visitors can stop by to snap a pick, and a haircut here is just over $12.
9. Tour the A.C.E District
Where: Texas Avenue
Located along Texas Avenue, The A.C.E. District, Baytown’s Arts, Culture and Entertainment District, features historic landmarks, art galleries, a theater and a variety of other shops and small businesses.
10. Spend a day at Calypso Cove
Where: 2428 W Main
Suit up and make a splash at Calypso Cove waterpark this summer. The Caribbean-themed water park features spray guns, a lap pool and a 17-foot slide tower. Admission to the cash only pool is $5 per person.
