Father’s Day is right around the corner. Treat dad to a special day with these seven activities around Houston.
1. Catch a Game
Where: 501 Crawford St, Minute Maid Park
Take dad out to the ball game and root for the home team this Father’s Day. The Astro’s will be matched up against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, and they are playing on the home field throughout this week as well. The team takes the field on Tuesday, June 13 and Wednesday, June 14 this week. Tickets start at just $15.
2. Go for a Run
Where: 550 Prairie St
Lace up those running shoes and hit the pavement for the Dad’s Day 5K. The race also features a 3K and 1K race for kids 12 and under who want to join dad. The June 17 event benefits prostate cancer awareness and education. The race registration fee for adults is $40 and just $10 for the kids 1K run/walk.
3. Take a Trip to Galveston
Where: 2704 Avenue O, Kempner Park
Make your way to Galveston for the annual Galveston Cajun Festival. The multi-day event features plenty of activities and things to do including a crawfish eating contest, and crawfish racing. There will also be live music to enjoy and a Kid’s Zone play area for the little ones. The festival is a fundraiser that helps to raise funds for local charities. Admission is free but there will be food, beverages and other items available for purchase once inside.
4. Check out a Father’s Day Pig Roast
Where: 550 Heights Blvd, Revival Market
Treat dad to a summertime cookout at Revival Market. The restaurant will be roasting a whole pig on Sunday. Pre-sale tickets are $25 and will include a plate of pulled pork, three sides, a dessert and a wristband good for a drink. Tickets are also available at the door for $30.
5. Race Go-Karts
Where: 14900 Northwest Fwy
Does dad have a need for speed? If he’s got a lead foot take him to K1 Speed. The indoor go-kart racing track will give dad the adrenaline rush he’s searching for, without the speeding ticket! The facility is over 50,000-square feet and K1 is the city’s only all-electric karting center. Races start at about $20.
6. Enjoy a Feast
Where: 111 North Post Oak Ln
Don’t just take dad out to dinner. Treat him to a Father’s Day experience. The historic Manor House estate at The Houstonian will be hosting a hands-on butchery demo from 11am to 1pm on Father’s Day. Here, dad can learn the ins-and-outs of carving meats all while enjoying bites and wine. Each guest also gets a to-go gift which includes two Painted Hills dry aged ribeye steaks, Chef’s mac-and-cheese plus a bottle of wine. Admission to the carving event is $65 per person.
7. Tee-Off at Topgolf
Where: 1030 Memorial Brook Blvd
Dust off the ‘ol golf clubs and tee-off at Topgolf. The three-story complex offers drinks, food and plenty of opportunity for fun with its challenging and competitive golf games. See who can drive the ball the longest or play a game that requires concentration and aim. Game play starts at $25 per hour.
